A pet trust is an important and increasingly popular addition to an estate plan for pet lovers. You protect, love and care for your pets like your family. When you are no longer around, you want to be sure that your pets are protected, loved and cared for, so they can continue to have a happy, and healthy life.

With A Pet Trust:

  • You can set aside and dedicate money to care for your pet during its estimated life-time.
  • You can name a caretaker who will care for your pet on a day to day basis for its lifetime. Either that caretaker, or a different “trustee” is appointed to manage and invest the trust money, and arrange for it to be distributed as needed to pay the caretaker for your pet’s daily needs, food, medical care, etc.
  • You can designate your exact wishes regarding the care of your pet, setting out any special care or treats you wish for the love and care of your pet, and even express your wishes or make arrangements for burial of your pet. Once your pet dies, any remaining balance in the pet trust would go to the person you designate in the trust.
  • Change the trust as needed because it is a revocable trust, change the caretaker, trustee, and all other terms.

A PET TRUST CAN BE ADDED AS PART OF A NEW ESTATE PLAN OR COULD BE ADDED TO AN EXISTING ESTATE PLAN–EITHER WAY IT GIVES YOU THE PEACE OF MIND OF KNOWING YOUR PET WILL RECEIVE THE CARE AND LOVE YOU WOULD WANT FOR THEM

If you are thinking about making a pet trust for your beloved companion, feel free to give us a call. Consider the peace of mind you will gain, knowing your loved pet will be taken care of when you are gone.
